Our Current Situation in a Nut Shell

While the medication of the entire populous continues, we continue education of the public and City Council re: fluoridation problems. We are finding encouragement from two recent developments:
  1. EPA / Dept of Health declarations - maximum levels of fluoridation should be reduced from 1.2 ppm to 0.7
  2. Research findings that 41% of 12-15 year olds had fluorosis

We are also working to avoid a $433K contract payment due the American Dental Foundation (per Art V, Sec. 5.9 of the contract) if Port Angeles ceases fluoridation.

Another lawsuit is being considered. More forthcoming.

How We Got Where We Are Today

What tests have been done and are they credible? Does everyone fluoridate their water? What is the difference between fluorine and fluoride and why so many different terms? Who tests our water to ensure a safe level of fluoride?

In March, 2006, the National Research Council broke important ground by dedicating an entire chapter of its report to the growing body of evidence indicating that fluoride can damage the brain. According to the NRC, it is apparent that fluorides have the ability to interfere with the functions of the brain and the body by direct and indirect means.”~~NRC Report
